Hello, friend. Welcome to Authorized Sword Ministries.

We're so glad you're here.

Where We Left Off

In Lesson Two we saw courage under fire. Today is Lesson Three. It's called "Knowing Your Weapon."

Our Key Verse

"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
— Hebrews 4:12 (KJV)

The Sword of the Spirit

Of all the armour in Ephesians 6, one piece is for fighting.

"And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:"
— Ephesians 6:17 (KJV)

When Satan tempted Jesus, Jesus answered him every time with "It is written" (Matthew 4:4, 7, 10). As an application, if our Lord used Scripture against temptation, so should we.

Study It

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
— 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)

A sword you never practice with won't help you in a fight. Study takes work, and God approves it.

"Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee."
— Psalms 119:11 (KJV)

Be Ready to Answer

"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:"
— 1 Peter 3:15 (KJV)

Notice two things. Be ready. And answer "with meekness and fear." A warrior for the faith isn't harsh. As an application, we defend the truth with a gentle spirit.

Contend for the Faith

"Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints."
— Jude 1:3 (KJV)

The faith was "once delivered." God's Word doesn't need to be updated. Our job is to hold it up and stand for it.

The Word Stands Forever

"The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever."
— Isaiah 40:8 (KJV)

Closing Thought

The Word of God is your sword. Read it, study it, hide it in your heart, and be ready to share it with meekness. Next time, in our last lesson, we'll talk about leading by example.

Let Us Pray

Father, thank You for Your Word. Give us a hunger to study it and courage to stand on it. In Jesus' name, amen.
