Who Is Jesus: Review Quiz
Lessons 1–4
Test what you learned in all four lessons of Who Is Jesus? The lessons are Lesson 1 ("The Way, the Truth, and the Life"), Lesson 2 ("He Went About Doing Good"), Lesson 3 ("Behold the Lamb of God"), and Lesson 4 ("The King Is Coming"). The answer is under each question.
1. In John 14:6, what did Jesus say about the way to the Father?
A) There are many ways to the Father
B) Good people find their own way
C) He is the way, and no man cometh unto the Father but by Him
D) Only priests can reach the Father
Answer: C) He is the way, and no man cometh unto the Father but by Him.
Jesus didn't say He knew a way. He said He is the way. Other teachers said, "Here is a way." Jesus said, "I am the way."
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." — John 14:6 (KJV)
2. True or False: Hundreds of years before Jesus was born, God said the Saviour would be born of a virgin.
Answer: True.
Isaiah told us how He would come, and Matthew shows that promise came true. His name means "God with us."
"Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." — Isaiah 7:14 (KJV)
3. Why does it matter that Jesus never sinned?
A) Only a spotless Saviour could pay for somebody else's sin
B) It doesn't really matter
C) It means He was never tempted
D) It shows that we don't sin either
Answer: A) Only a spotless Saviour could pay for somebody else's sin.
Jesus was tempted just like we are, but He never sinned. Not once.
"For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin." — Hebrews 4:15 (KJV)
4. When Jesus was baptized, what did the voice from heaven say?
A) This is a good teacher; listen to him
B) This is a prophet like Moses
C) This man is John's disciple
D) This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased
Answer: D) This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
The Father spoke from heaven, the Spirit came down like a dove, and the Son stood in the water. God Himself told the world who Jesus is.
"And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." — Matthew 3:16-17 (KJV)
5. Why were Jesus' miracles written down?
A) To amaze people
B) So that we might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and have life through His name
C) To make Jesus famous
D) So people would follow the scribes
Answer: B) So that we might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and have life through His name.
The miracles were signs. They point to who Jesus is, so that we would believe and have life.
"And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name." — John 20:30-31 (KJV)
6. True or False: The religious leaders complained that Jesus received sinners and ate with them.
Answer: True.
They meant it as an insult, but it's some of the best news in the Bible. Jesus doesn't excuse sin, but He welcomes sinners who come to Him. He came "to seek and to save that which was lost."
"And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them." — Luke 15:2 (KJV)
7. Why did John the Baptist call Jesus "the Lamb of God"?
A) Because Jesus was quiet and gentle
B) Because, like the Passover lamb, Jesus would die in our place and take away the sin of the world
C) Because Jesus was a shepherd
D) Because lambs were used for food
Answer: B) Because, like the Passover lamb, Jesus would die in our place and take away the sin of the world.
In Egypt, the lamb died and the family under the blood was spared. That was a picture pointing ahead to Jesus. "Christ our passover is sacrificed for us."
"The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world." — John 1:29 (KJV)
8. True or False: Jesus was a victim who was caught by His enemies against His will.
Answer: False.
Jesus went to the cross on purpose, because He loves His sheep. No man took His life from Him. He laid it down Himself.
"Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father." — John 10:17-18 (KJV)
9. In "the great exchange" of 2 Corinthians 5:21, what happens?
A) We pay for our own sin
B) Our good deeds are traded for heaven
C) Jesus becomes a sinner like us
D) Jesus took our sin, and everyone who trusts Him receives His righteousness
Answer: D) Jesus took our sin, and everyone who trusts Him receives His righteousness.
Think of it as a trade. He got what we deserved, so we could get what He deserved.
"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." — 2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV)
10. When the Lord comes for His people, how does 1 Thessalonians 4:17 end?
A) "So shall we ever be with the Lord"
B) "So shall we rest in the grave"
C) "So shall we become angels"
D) "So shall we start over on earth"
Answer: A) "So shall we ever be with the Lord."
That's the heart of it. Heaven is wonderful because Jesus is there.
"Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." — 1 Thessalonians 4:17 (KJV)
11. Who knows the day and hour when Jesus will come back?
A) Preachers who study prophecy
B) The angels of heaven
C) The Father only
D) Anyone who reads the news
Answer: C) The Father only.
Only God knows, so don't trust anyone who claims to know the date. Instead, be ready.
"But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only." — Matthew 24:36 (KJV)
12. True or False: Since it has been a long time, the Lord must not be coming back.
Answer: False.
The Lord is not slow about His promise. His patience is mercy. He is giving people time to come to Him, and that includes you.
"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." — 2 Peter 3:9 (KJV)
